Maroon 5's lead singer Adam Levine is about to explode on the silver screen in his first film ever, a romantic comedy called Begin Again (not to be confused with the Taylor Swift sensitive ballad of the same name). Starring alongside Mark Ruffalo and Keira Knightley, The Voice mentor certainly holds his own.

Celebrity host Carson Daly had the honor of revealing the first trailer on The Today Show on Friday (March 28) for all eyes to see.

In the clip, Ruffalo portrays an ex-record executive named Dan who got a little too friendly with the booze. He loses it all, but quickly stumbles upon Knightley's character (Gretta), a singer-songwriter type looking to record an album. Following her breakup with Levine's bearded man, she has a few drinks with Ruffalo and things take off from there. In similar Swift style, Gretta channels her pain and heartache into her music. Love is in the air, folks! Too bad Valentine's Day is now a distant memory.

Helmed by Oscar-winning Once director John Carney, the film asks the questions "can a song save your life?," which also happens to be its original name.

The movie, which debuted with enthusiasm at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, hits theaters on July 4. Fellow artist and Voice instructor Cee Lo Green makes a brief cameo.

Previously, Levine had a guest starring role on season two of American Horror Story.

“This beautiful music infused New York story encompasses the spirit of Tribeca where music, film and performance play such a key part of this year's program,” Jane Rosenthal, CEO and co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival, had said last month in an official statement, via The Wrap. “To be able to work with our neighbor and dear friend Harvey Weinstein and The Weinstein Company to bring this film to U.S. audiences for the first time is a bonus for our entire community.”
