Ed Sheeran Announces New Single & New Album!

Ed Sheeran has musical showers coming this April, in the form of a new single and new album! The British pop star took to Twitter on Friday (April 4) to announce the release of a brand new single, titled simply "Sing," which hits iTunes April 8 here in the states.

"The first single from my new album is called 'Sing,'" he shared on Instagram. "The world exclusive first play will be on Zane Lowe's show on BBC Radio 1 at 7:30 on Monday. Lots of other stuff happening this weekend leading up to it, so watch this space."

He later tweeted his excitement:


The song will also debut on New York City's Z100 radio station at 4 p.m. EST.

Sheeran then shared his sophomore album's title, saying, "My 2nd album is called 'x' or 'multiply' and will released on the 23rd of June worldwide. Can't wait for you guys to hear it..." On the new project, he, reportedly worked with industry tastemakers Rick Rubin and Pharrell Williams.

This album is the follow-up to 2011's +, which features the hit singles "Lego House" and "The A Team." It peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 all-genre chart and rose to the summit in the U.K.

"It's the work I'm most proud of," Sheeran recently shared with the Evening Standard. "I've cherry-picked the best song and worked with the best producers."

On his first record, he admits that "my first album was a bit rushed because I'd just been signed and wanted to put something out before I was shelved."
